My last press on Oslo is dedicated to Vigeland Park, one of my favorite places in Oslo. Here you may catch glimpses of yourself in a beautiful park full of yourself: when you are happy or sad or angry; when you are with parents or children or lover.
The world’s largest sculpture park made by a single artist, Gustav Vigeland.
Crossing The Bridge of bronze sculptures of children, men, women. Below right: My brother and the famous angry little boy 😛
At The Monolith of man in different situations and relationships.
And The Wheel of Life. As extracted from its website: ‘In a sense, this sculpture sums up the dramatic theme of the entire park: Man’s journey from cradle to grave, through happiness and grief, through fantasy, hope and wishes of eternity.’
Last but not least, farewell dinner in Oslo.
Oslo may not be the most beautiful of the Scandinavia countries I visited. Perhaps I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Perhaps I need to travel out of Oslo to see the great Norway, especially the famous fjords or the flam.
But I was with the right people. It is time well-spent, bonding with my brother (who is 10 years younger) and mixing with his young friends who are having the adventure of their lives on their student exchange programme. I had a boss who said that people should hang out with people much younger, and at that moment, I thought I can understand (kind of) what he means.
At the farewell dinner, these young men and women said in jest to meet again in Oslo 10 years later and paused on what will become of them then. I think someone said ‘so old’ followed by an apologetic ‘oops’ to me. haha.
The next 10 years will be the best decade of your lives, as it has been for me. You will continue to have many adventures of your lives. Good luck to all of us as we embark on the journey unknown – you on your left side of thirties and me on my right!
Thanks for sharing this – you’ve shown me a place that I would not probably come across in other circumstances!
That’s great! Glad you found the press useful 🙂 From what I understand, Vigeland Park is quite famous in that part of the world in Scandinavia and Northern Europe…
