Back from a short trip to Chiangmai in Northern Thailand. Like most trips to Thailand, it’s quite laid-back – eat, shop, sight-see and massage. We didn’t even planned any itinerary! Guess Thailand always has this charm that makes people relax and feel at ease (in spite of all the uncertainty in the country now).
Didn’t want to bore you with lengthy descriptions of what I did (and I basically did nothing much!) so enjoy the photos taken (and I didn’t even take many!). Always believe that pictures speak a thousand words and I felt that way when I was looking through the photos yesterday – it’s like reliving my 4 days in Chiangmai! 🙂
Visited the Long-neck Tribe in Chiangmai. Very touristy. Makes one feel a bit uneasy for intruding into their lives.
Amazing experience to play with tigers in Tiger Kingdom. Me with 3 month old tiger
Me posing with a 1.5 month old tiger who was playing with a toy tiger.
Lunch with a view on top of a mountain in Mon Cham.
The special dish is the vegetable wrap among the thai-chinese food.
Tables were housed in huts.
Sky-dining kind of took on a different meaning at Mon Cham. LOL.
Explored the rest of the restaurant after lunch. Nice view!
Conquered steps to reach Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
More steps up Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep architecture details
Another angle, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Great view of Chiangmai from Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Glittering in gold is this part of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Last shot of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep where we started our journey up the temple on the mountain. It was also quite a long ride from Chiangmai Old City.
Explored two night markets – Saturday and Sunday Market. This is the latter. Many handmade products at good prices can be scored here! 🙂 I got a matching play suit for 250 baht, handmade notebooks for 80 baht and key holders for 30 baht.
Also visited Wat Phra Sing near our hotel in Chiangmai Old City.
Quite splendor at Wat Phra Sing housed in a nice garden
Taking a break from Thai Food. Tried MK in Thailand – cheap and nice steamboat in one of the shopping malls! 🙂 Heard the roast duck is raved about – quite nice!
Khao Soi. Northern Thai food of flat noodle (a mixture of fried ones) with a drumstick cooked in curry. More sweet than spicy.
Tried the The glutinous rice sausage (bottom) at our first meal in Chiangmai.
